Botulism – when dogs eat things they shouldn’t
Vets at SDVC have recently seen 2 cases of rare Botulism paralysis in dogs.
Bacteria within decomposing animal and plants tissue can produce the potentially fatal botulinum toxin. If your pet may have ingested contaminated material or water, or is showing signs of limb weakness, difficultly breathing, chewing or swallowing, please us on 3288 1574 immediately.
Christmas comes but once a year and so should vaccination!
Christmas holidays are fast approaching so now is the ideal time to ensure your pets are up to date with their annual vaccinations. These are a requirement for entry to kennels and catteries and significantly reduce the risk of infectious disease. These environments can also be stressful for your dog or cat, so providing them with good immunity is essential! Vaccinating early allows time for your pet to build immunity in preparation for the holidays. Please call 3288 1574 to make an appointment.
RSPCA Cupcake Day
Thanks to all those who supported SDVC’s RSPCA Cupcake Day! Our talented staff made all the little cakes... The event was a great success and raised much needed funds for a very worthy cause.
Tick Season
Please check your pets daily for ticks. We have had 4 cases in just the last 2 days. If you suspect that your pet may have a tick, please seek veterinary advise immediately - tick paralysis can be fatal.
