Waiting Room
Our friendly staff will assist you when visiting the clinic. We have a warm and relaxed waiting area displaying artwork by talented local photographers, painters or glass artisans. It is a nice place to sit and watch the activity. Please ask if you would like your cat or dog to be placed quietly in a kennel whilst you await your appointment.
Consulting Rooms
There are two welcoming and well-appointed rooms for consultations.
Theatre Room 1
This operating theatre is equipped with:
- Complete Dental Unit with dental scaler, dental polisher, drills and burrs;
- Anaesthetic machine for gaseous anaesthesia and oxygen;
- Specialised Surgical light;
- Pulse oximeter to measure blood oxygen levels;
- Heart rate monitor;
- Apalert to measure respiratory rate;
- Carbon dioxide monitor;
- Specially designed table which allows fluids to drain, making it useful for ear flushes, abscess treatment and dental care;
- Heated recovery cages to allow careful observation of animals as they recover from procedures;
Theatre Room 2
Our second operating theatre is used for desexings and more specialised surgeries. It is equipped with:
- Anaesthetic machine for gaseous anaesthesia and oxygen;
- Specialised Surgical light;
- Pulse oximeter to measure blood oxygen levels;
- Heart rate monitor;
- Apalert to measure respiratory rate;
- Carbon dioxide monitor;
- Oesophageal body temperature monitor;
- Blood pressure monitor for small animals;
- Heating;
- Fully adjustable gas lift and tilt table.


Diagnostic Facilities and Laboratory
SDVC offers comprehensive in-house :
- Radiology (xrays);
- Ultrasound
- Electrocardiography (ecg)
- Blood pressure monitoring (small pets);
- Blood oxygen measurement;
- Microscopy;
- Haematology;
- Biochemistry;
- Urine analysis;
- Blood glucose measurement.
All other required testing is couriered to Idexx laboratory in Brisbane.
Dispensary
SDVC stocks a wide range of the latest and most effective veterinary pharmaceuticals.
Hospital
SDVC has 19 comfortable fibreglass kennel facilities for the care of your pets whilst in hospital. A good number of these have impregnated heating for unwell pets. Intravenous fluid pumps are frequently used within the hospital. Cats are housed away from dogs wherever possible.
Pets in hospital receive care from 7am until at least 6 pm daily.
If your veterinarian feels that 24 hour care is essential, options for 24 hour care can be discussed.
