There are two general types of pet insurance to consider:
These offer low premiums of approx $40 p.a. with approx $50-$100 excess. Insurance will then pay approx $500 towards your pet’s medical care.
This would cover a small stitch up, most ear infections, broken toe, aural haematoma etc.
- Specific pet insurance companies such as Bow Wow Meow, Pet Plan or Medibank.
For example Bow Wow Meow offers excellent comprehensive pet insurance premiums ranging from $135 to $355 p.a. with excesses of $500 to $100 respectively
This cover provides an annual limit of $8000 or $12 000 for orthopaedic surgery, congenital disorders, bowel obstructions, tick paralysis and much more.
