Newsletter October 2011

October 2011

The clinic has expanded yet again, making further space for ultrasound, endoscopy, digital xray, dental procedures and pet admissions. We look forward to showing you around when you next visit.

In particular there is a fabulous coffee machine for customers and staff to enjoy. Please feel welcome to ask us to make you a fresh cup of coffee or hot chocolate!

Tick Season

We have been inundated with tick cases this month, many of whom have suffered severe paralysis.

Early signs of paralysis include hind limb weakness, coughing or gagging. This soon progresses to a complete inability to rise or swallow. These pets will die without treatment, and cases often progress even once the tick has been removed. So a visit to the vet is imperative!

Long haired dogs and cats should be clipped NOW to ensure ticks can be found more easily. Full clip offs are done at our surgery and fancy clips are referred to Debonnaire Dogs nearby. Please ensure all dogs and cats are also protected with adequate preventatives. We can help you choose the correct product. For example some dog products are toxic to cats, so professional advice is useful (and free!)

Dr Jeannet Kessels is back…

After a period of absence Dr Jeannet Kessels is now available for a limited number of appointments weekly. If you would particularly like Jeannet to see you and your pet, please specify when you call reception. She will be most happy to see old and new customers again.

Complementary Dental Checks

Our vets and nurses are most happy to perform dental checks on your dogs and cats at no charge. Four out of Five pets have a degree of dental disease, which can cause mouth pain and stinky breath. All quotes for dental procedures are free, so please dont hesitate to make an appointment. There are also many foods and products available to reduce plaque and dental disease. Please ask our friendly staff today.

Aquarium

Our fish are beautiful!! The pet store continues to stock a great range of fish, products and plants. Enjoy!
