Ticks! Ticks! and More Ticks!!
This last month has seen the clinic inundated with severe TICK cases. Many of these have required ongoing oxygen therapy and some have been beyond saving. Ticks are still about! Please do not forget to apply appropriate tick preventatives and check your dogs and cats regularly. At the first sign of weakness please make an appointment to see our vets immediately.
Did you know…??? Even birds can occasionally develop tick paralysis. I clearly remember a quite happy looking goose with a very long neck, paralysed by a tick and unable to lift its head. It was just a little amusing. Fortunately with treatment this very lucky goose made a full recovery.
