Could this be a Guiness World Record?...
This month our vets were able to successfully operate on a 34 kg dog carrying a benign abdominal tumour weighing 9.6 kg! She is in recovery and progressing well. We likened this procedure to delivering twins in a 34 kg human!
In almost 25 years, this is the largest tumour Dr Jeannet Kessels has removed and we were delighted that all went so well.
The message is, even if you don’t think it is possible, ask us, and we will always do out very very best to make your pet well. Most often, we succeed!
Dry Eye in Dogs
Dry eye occurs in around 1 in 22 dogs and is a condition in which tear production in the eye is insufficient. Without tears to lubricate the eyes, they become dry and very uncomfortable and are at increased risk of infection. Signs that may indicate your dog has Dry Eye include: Red and inflamed eyes, discharge and / or excessive blinking or rubbing at the eyes. Early diagnosis and treatment of Dry Eye is important in order to reduce the development of complications such as painful eye ulcers. Diagnosis involves a test called the Schirmer Tear Tears which measures the level of tear production in each eye. There are effective treatments available with some case require ongoing treatment.
