Floods and Half-Price Microchipping

First of all a huge thankyou to all those wonderful clients who offered to care for lost and injured animals after the floods. It is touching to know the care and dedication of people in our community. One old, neglected cat was way up a tree in Goodna. Firemen brought her down and she was brought in by one of our clients to be checked for a microchip. She had none. We kept her during those first chaotic days, after which those particular clients phoned to check whether her home had been found. As it had not, they took her on, had her medically and dentally treated as needed, and took her on as a new member of the family. She has been aptly named   ‘Anna Bligh’ and is only ever called by her full name!!

After the distress of many animals lost in the floods, we have decided to provide MICROCHIPPING at HALF PRICE THIS MONTH. All dogs, cats and horses can be microchipped at half price.  Please make sure that all of your and your family’s pets are microchipped!  We are always most happy to check found animals for chips at no charge and to record them on our system. Our website has an extended list of contacts and ideas in the case of your pet being lost.

To stay with the theme of floods, we have had numerous dogs in with severe, sometimes bloody diarrhoea this month. These have not all been parvo or hookworm, and have responded well to a few days in hospital on fluids and antibiotics.

Importance of a High Quality Diet for all Pets

Whilst chocolate is well known to cause illness in dogs, did you know that macadamia nuts, sultanas, onions, (and marijuana!) can also be extremely problematic? We do see cases of these toxicities from time to time. This is a good reason to feed high quality, well researched, diet such as Eukanuba, Hills, or Royal Canin. In the long run we see vastly reduced health problems in dogs and cats on these diets – it is for this reason they are strongly recommended. Whilst they are more expensive per bag, they are not too dear per meal, as less volume is needed to be fed. If you would like a sample of one of these foods, please ask. We do have a refund policy if your pet will not eat the new food, although bear in mind that it can take time to adjust from a lower quality, fatty, salty, ‘burgers and fries’ type of diet to a nutritious, excellent one. This month a beautiful large dog bed is given away FREE with each 15 kg purchase of Eukanuba, while stocks last!

Finally, did you know that  we do stock Crickets, Woodies, Fresh Frozen Snake foods, Brine shrimp and other frozen fish foods, Turtle Dinners, Passwell Parrot Pellets, Hessian dog bed covers, a great range of Aquarium Plants, Wood Shavings, Cat Litter, Guinea Pig foods and much, much more in our Pet Store?  Please ask us to order whichever special items you may require. Our staff are always most happy to help you.
