Lost Pets
If your pet is lost, these suggestions may be useful. We wish you all the best in your search, and will endeavour to assist wherever we can.
In the happy event that your pet is found, please make an appointment on 3288 1574 to have a microchip placed and tag ordered.
1. Contact all the vets in the area and ask them to place your details on their Lost and Found database.

2. If your pet is microchipped, confirm that your details are correct with your registration company.
3. The Pet Address search engine allows you to search for the microchip number of a pet in various animal databases.
Simply type the microchip number in the search field; then click to search. If your number is found in one of the databases you will be directed to the database for further information.
If your pet is microchipped, it is imperative your contact details are kept current with the microchip database.
4. Place large signs up in the vicinity of where your pet was lost. Busy intersections are most useful. Be sure to remove these when the pet is found.
5.Call Ipswich city council pound on 3810 6814 and leave details of your lost pet. It is important to call or visit them every day.
6. Call the RSPCA and leave details of your lost pet on 3426 9999.
7. Place an advertisement in the local paper:
- The Satellite - 3457 4100;
- Queensland Times - 3817 1717;
- Greater Springfield Times - 3217 0533;
- Springfield News - 3377 7738;
- Ipswich News - 3810 4600;
- Courier mail - 132 202.
8. Phone 4BC radio on 3908 8200 and ask to place an ad on radio.
9. Perhaps also call Brisbane City Council pound on 3403 8888.
When your pet is found, ensure it has in place:-
1. An up-to-date microchip. This is a quick procedure which we can do at Springfield District Vets at any time.
2. A collar with name tag, available at SDVC.
3. A current council registration tag.
4. Inform all the vets that you have now found your pet.
5. Inform Ipswich or Brisbane City Council that your pet has been found.
